WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — "The recent news concerning a visit to Moscow by Carter Page, another early [President Donald] Trump supporter with foreign policy expertise, does not change much," Schirach said. "Unless there is more to this story, this new development can hardly be interpreted as part of a well-crafted undertaking on the part of the Trump campaign to engage Russian officials at multiple levels."
In a closed congressional hearing last week Page said he notified Sessions that he was traveling to Russia during the presidential campaign, contradicting Sessions’ previous testimony.
Russia has repeatedly denied the accusations of Moscow's interference in the US presidential election, saying that it had not served the interests of Russia and calling the allegations absurd.
