"My meetings with President Xi Jinping were very productive on both trade and the subject of North Korea," Trump tweeted as he wrapped up the China leg of his five-stop Asia tour.
The US president described his Chinese counterpart as a "highly respected and powerful representative of his people." "It was great being with him and [First Lady] Madame Peng Liyuan!" he wrote.

"I don’t blame China, I blame the incompetence of past Admins for allowing China to take advantage of the U.S. on trade leading up to a point where the U.S. is losing $100's of billions. How can you blame China for taking advantage of people that had no clue? I would've done same!" he tweeted.
Later on in the day, Trump announced that he was leaving Beijing for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Da Nang, Vietnam, while his wife Melania Trump is staying behind to see the Great Wall before going to Alaska.
China is the United States largest trading partner and third-largest market for goods exports. Their trade deficit in 2016 was $313.7 billion, the overall goods trade deficit has reached $347 billion and represents 47 percent of the total US trade deficit in goods.
