US President Donald Trump was very thirsty during an animated speech Wednesday on his Asian tour, so he abruptly stopped talking and started searching for a bottle of water.
"They don’t have water? That’s OK," Trump said.
When the president was told there was a bottle on a small table to his right, the president grabbed the bottle, took a sip and resumed his speech. He took another sip later in the speech.
The awkwardness of the moment is not only due to Trump’s drinking technique, but mostly to its similarity to another remarkable water bottle sip a few years ago by Sen. Marco Rubio.
In 2013, Rubio was responding to former President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address and paused in the middle of his speech to take a swig of water.
"Next time Marco Rubio should drink his water from a glass as opposed to a bottle – would have much less negative impact," Trump said on Twitter in 2013.
Later, during the presidential campaign, he also made a series of bitter remarks about Rubio’s water-drinking technique.
Marco Rubio couldn't even respond properly to President Obama's State of the Union Speech without pouring sweat & chugging water. He choked!

For Rubio, the awkward moment on Wednesday seemed to be a good opportunity to finally respond to Trump.
Similar, but needs work on his form.Has to be done in one single motion & eyes should never leave the camera. But not bad for his 1st time https://t.co/s49JtyRo3S

President Trump's Fiji stunt was strategic! He does not usually have a table with water. They put it front & center on purpose‼️👇🏼 #Qanon pic.twitter.com/kBsOd3V3OB
