Boston Dynamics Robot Somersaults From Different Heights (VIDEO)
13:59 GMT 17.11.2017 (Updated: 12:54 GMT 14.04.2023) Gone are the days of robots awkwardly wobbling around in laboratories, today a robot can display feats that require some serious gymnastics skills.
The US company Boston Dynamics has taught its humanoid robot Atlas to climb to small elevations and do somersaults.
A video demonstration was published on the company’s YouTube channel.
The one-minute-long video shows Atlas jumping from one elevation to another. He then does a backflip, and raises his arms demonstrating success.
The video already has over 2 million views, with YouTube users expressing their delight and shock over the robot’s advanced capabilities.
Previously, Atlas demonstrated the ability to move on two legs over rough terrain, and also use its hands to carry cargo or overcome vertical obstacles. The development of the robot has been ongoing since 2013.
