DUBAI (Sputnik) — The rescued journalists have arrived at an air base in Riyadh, the Al Arabiya broadcaster reported on Thursday.
The women were kidnapped earlier in November by the Houthi rebels after they had been reportedly dissatisfied with the visit of the journalists, who arrived in Yemen on board of a UN aircraft carrying humanitarian aid.
The situation in Yemen has been extremely unstable since 2015 when a civil war broke out. The war is being waged between the internationally recognized government of President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi and the Houthi movement backed by army units loyal to former President Ali Abdullah Saleh. In March 2015, the Saudi-led coalition of mostly Persian Gulf countries launched airstrikes against the Houthis at Hadi's request.
