WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, US Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan held a bilateral meeting with the Sudanese officials, which was followed by the formal announcement on North Korea.
"The United States welcomes the Government of Sudan’s pledge and will continue engagement on this issue to ensure that this commitment is fully implemented," the release said on Thursday.
Nauert emphasized the United States remains focused on isolating North Korea to ensure global peace and stability.
Tensions on the Korean Peninsula have escalated in recent months after Pyongyang carried out several ballistic missile and nuclear tests and the North Korean and US leaders have traded insults and threats. The United States has dispatched three aircraft carrier strike groups within reach of North Korea.
