Syria Receives 25 Tonnes of Humanitarian Aid From Belarus

Belarus has delivered 25 tonnes of humanitarian aid to the Syrian port of Latakia.

BEIRUT (Sputnik) — Belarusian Ambassador to Syria Alexander Ponomarev told Sputnik on Saturday that Belarus has delivered 25 tonnes of humanitarian assistance cargo to the Syrian port of Latakia.

"Today, in presence of [Latakia's] Governor Ibrahim Salem, the humanitarian cargo from Belarus has been received in the port of the city of Latakia. Overall, it is 25 tonnes of food…, about 3,500 clothing and footwear items, made in Belarus," Ponomarev said.

According to the Belarusian diplomatic mission, the aid will be distributed in Syrian provinces of Latakia, Homs and Damascus.

The Syrian civil war has been raging for six years, with government forces fighting against both Syrian opposition groups and numerous extremist and terrorist groups, including Daesh terrorist group.
