The deputy PM’s computer was seized as the police raided the House of Commons office in November 2008 when there was an inquiry into a range of government leaks underway.
Citing extremely vile images found on the system, the police even addressed the criminal prosecution agency over whether they should take action; but they responded that no appropriate legislation applied at the time of the raid.
The first secretary of state flatly denied uploading or watching pornography in his office. "As I have said throughout I did not put or view pornography on the computers taken from my office," he said, as reported by the Sun.
A relevant law, The Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008, came into force a few weeks later, in January 2009, and it deems illegal the possess of extreme pornographic images featuring life-threating acts, or depicting sex with animals or a corpse. Under the act, the penalties for the offense may vary from a fine "not exceeding the statutory maximum" to imprisonment for up to three years.
Yet another scandalous case with Damian Green involved has to do with allegations by a female journalist who said he had "fleetingly" touched her knee two years ago as they met in a pub. Green, now facing a Whitehall "sleaze" inquiry, vehemently denied the claims the other day.
Porn Allegations Send Twitter Ablaze
The Sun's report has quickly sparked lively discussions on Twitter, some saying it’s all about a campaign, or more likely opposition research aimed at compromising Damian Green and eventually stripping him of his political position. At the same time there are voices in favor of Green, people saying he is being blackmailed.
This still does not prove it was Damian Green viewing the stuff. It was in his office, yes, but anyone in that office could be viewing the porn. It just proves he had no idea of how to control his staff.

And the absence of evidence tends to weaken the case further — "Free the @DamianGreen one" from baseless allegations https://t.co/UJuQ29CN4D

PLUS, why has it taken over a decade for this story to surface, round about the time people want to get rid of Damian Green, and not at the time of the discovery of the images? The entire story stinks.

In other countries most of this scum would be in prison. In the UK they are in government. And still you vote Tory. https://t.co/dIaP07hM4M
