CAIRO (Sputnik) — At least 15 people were killed and five more injuried in a crowd stampede during a food aid distribution event in Morocco, local media reported Sunday.
According to the TelQuel outlet, the incident took place in a suburb of the coastal tourist town of Essaouira in western Morocco.

Medical workers have said that the information about the number of casualties is preliminary and that the victims were mostly women. Moreover, no more details were immediately available.
King Mohammed ordered that the victims' families be given any assistance they needed, the ministry said in a statement, adding that a criminal investigation had been opened.
