During the November 18 flight, specialists checked the A-100's aerodynamic characteristics as well as the performance of its avionics and part of the equipment of the radio engineering complex.
The Beriev A-100 aircraft, also known as "the flying radar", was constructed on the base of the Il-76MD-90A (Il-476) transport aircraft.
The plane is expected to replace the Beriev A-50 Mainstay AWACS aircraft, which is currently in service at the Russian Aerospace Forces.
Superior to its foreign analogues, the A-100 is specifically capable of managing the operations of fighter jets and bombers with guidance on air, land and sea targets.
