MOSCOW (Sputnik) — French authorities detained six people in Reims, as well as in the prefectures of Aube and Ardennes on Tuesday and Wednesday over suspicion of planning a terrorist attack, according to France 3 TV channel.
Local media reports have suggested that weapons had been seized during the operation.

Earlier this week, another six suspects were detained during an anti-terror operation in Germany. According to local media, the detainees, suspected of connection to the Daesh terrorist group, were planning an attack at a Christmas market in the German city of Essen.

The latest attack at a Christmas market occurred almost a year ago, in December 2016, when a truck rammed into a crowd in the center of Berlin leaving 12 people dead and almost 50 injured. The attacker, identified as a 24-year-old Tunisian national Anis Amri, was shot dead several days later by the Italian police in Milan.
