The shop, which is set to stay open until December 20, offers a variety of sex toys, books and clothing, but in order to get through its black, furry archway, shoppers have to be 18 or older.
According to Corey Price, Pornhub's vice president, the idea to launch a shop came from wanting to create a conversation with the website's audience that wasn't just on social media.
"We've been doing a lot more in terms of apparel… and we thought that fashion would be cool to do in an actual retail pop-up shop location," Price told the New York Daily News. "People can physically interact with the brand of our products… normally it's a virtual experience."
Open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays, shop customers are also given access to a bed "where people are invited to sit and interact with the camera on a live-feed streaming onto Pornhub.com directly," Daily News reported.
In preparation for the launch, Pornhub also collaborated with the Museum of Sex to promote limited-supply products, including books, herbs and sex games, according to Hypebeast. Customers will even get the chance to meet porn stars Asa Akira and Dani Daniels during its opening weekend.
Though the Big Apple is no stranger to the risqué industry, some locals admitted to being excited about the shop even before the doors opened.
"I kinda dig it. I'll definitely come by," Andy Romer told the Daily News Thursday. "Weirder things have happened in SoHo."
And yet, not everyone was thrilled — not even New York Mayor Bill de Blasio.
"It's New York City," Blasio's spokesperson Eric Phillips told the outlet. "It's not that interesting."
Organizers will also be opening a holiday-themed Pornhub shop in Milan, Italy "at Via De Cristoforis 5 right by famed Corso Como," the company said in a statement.
