Four people involved in the inquiry have told the New York Times that Flynn’s legal team had recently ended its deal with Trump’s attorney to share data about Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.

However, the outlet said this alone did not prove that the former White House staffer was working together with investigators or was about to reach a deal with them, as it is a common legal practice that prevents a conflict of interests.

Meantime, the US media outlet has also specified this move as an alleged sign that former US national security adviser Michael Flynn appears to be cooperating with the Russia probe after notifying President Donald Trump’s team about suspension of further discussions of Mueller's ongoing investigation.

Earlier, NBC News reported that federal investigators had gathered enough evidence to press charges against former national security adviser Michael Flynn. The US media had cited its sources close to Robert Mueller's investigation into alleged collusion between the presidential campaign of US President Donald Trump and Russian actors.

Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn served as Trump's national security adviser for just 24 days until he was forced to quit due to accusations he had contact with Russia's ambassador to the US.

Previously, Sergey Kislyak, who finished his mission as the Russian ambassador to the US this summer, emphasized that during his meeting with Michael Flynn, the parties discussed issues solely important for Russian-US cooperation, mainly the fight against terrorism.

The special counsel Robert Mueller has been investigating the Trump campaign over hints of alleged collusion with the Russian government to win the 2016 US presidential election. Russia has strongly denied the allegations, accusing those behind it of trying to deflect attention away from real problems in US domestic affairs.
