Poff is now facing six charges, including mailing “injurious articles”, and the “transportation of explosives with intent to kill and injure,” after an attempt to assassinate the US President and the Governor of Texas in 2016.
Court files seen by CNN reveal that the Houston-area resident sent homemade bombs to the two politicians, because she was upset with Abbott for allegedly denying her child support claim and simple disliking Obama.

Surprisingly, Poff almost succeeded in her efforts to assassinate the Governor, who received and personally opened her package that contained the explosive device.
Abbott was only saved by the failure of the makeshift detonator to go off.
The package for Obama was intercepted by his security detail, who found a very peculiar cat hair on the bomb, prompting a wild chase after Poff.
The investigators succeeded in tracking Poff with the help of the damaged postal stamp and the feline hair that was “microscopically consistent with the hair of one of Poff’s cats.”
Poff denies having sent the packages and pleaded “not guilty” to the charges.
