Jim Poolman, an artist and self-taught welder, spent 12 years working on the massive monster, created from 50,000 horseshoes welded together. According to its creator, the dragon is all set to establish a new Guinness world record and get the title of the world's largest horseshoe sculpture. The current record-holder, Donnie Faulk from Pulaski, Tennessee, US, created a life-size horse made of 1,071 horseshoes in 2006.

The Sculpture Park in Churt, Surrey, which boasts a collection of 600 pieces made by more than 300 artists, has recently received an outstanding new exhibit – an enormous dragon made from 300 tons of old horseshoes.
