New reports have emerged about North Korea's latest reported ballistic missile test, which it conducted earlier on Wednesday.

The South Korean military has claimed that the trajectory of Pyongyang's alleged intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) showed that it flew at least ten times higher than the International Space Station.

What's more, the ICBM managed to fly at an altitude which is "twice as high as any satellite in low-earth orbit," NBC News quoted South Korea's military as saying.

US Defense Secretary James Mattis, for his part, told journalists shortly after the launch that this North Korean missile was "higher, frankly, than any previous shot they have taken."

The projectile traversed 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) before crashing into the Sea of Japan. Seoul 'retaliated' against the launch by carrying out a "precision strike" missile drill immediately afterward.
