According to emergency services in the Spanish region of Andalusia, on Wednesday morning, a passenger train derailed in Seville province, leaving 27 people injured, two of them seriously and brought to a local hospital by a helicopter.

A spokeswoman for the national railway company Renfe said the accident happened due to bad weather conditions caused by heavy rain, which prompted the medium-distance train to derail in Arahal municipality.
In September, 2016 a passenger train veered off the tracks in Spain's Galicia region en route to Portugal. Four people were killed and around 50 others were injured. However, the suspected cause of the accident was human error; the train driver had exceeded the speed limit.
