New Delhi (Sputnik) — India hopes to contain infiltration and ceasefire violations with the help of smart sensors it has been installing along the northern border in Jammu and Kashmir.
"There has been a significant increase in the number of ceasefire violations. We incurred losses due to continuous cross-border firing. But we have ensured that we will inflict maximum damage on them as well," K K Sharma, Director General of BSF said in his interaction with the media.
"Launch pads are always active to infiltrate terrorists from across the border into India," the BSF Chief added.
"We have sensitized our Jawans. It's not possible to provide security to each and every person when he is on leave. We have requested agencies to take care. We have also advised soldiers to use their smartphones cautiously," BSF DG K K Sharma added.

Both India and Pakistan have refused to acknowledge ceasefire violations from their sides along the Line of Control and the International Border in recent times. Relations between the countries have remained hostile due to varied historical, political and communal factors. Local military factors that are usually not planned, directed, or cleared by higher military commands or political establishments often snowball into a political and diplomatic crisis. While Pakistan accuses the Indian forces of unprovoked firing resulting in civilian casualties, India has been firm on its claims that cross border firing by Pakistani troops is often aimed at providing cover to militants seeking to sneak inside India.
