Going, Going, Gone! Detroit's Very Steady Stadium Implodes on the Second Try
13:00 GMT 06.12.2017 (Updated: 19:32 GMT 19.10.2022) The abandoned Pontiac Silverdome stadium in Michigan, US, which was home to the Detroit Lions from 1975 to 2001, was supposed to be demolished on Sunday morning, but it didn’t happen – the tough stadium defied the implosion.
It turned out that the explosives, which were supposed to destroy the steel supporting columns, failed to detonate because of faulty wiring. On Monday night, during a second attempt, Pontiac Silverdome was finally blown up.
