The Trump administration unveiled its National Security Strategy on Monday, a document that outlines the president’s strategic priorities.

President Donald Trump presented the strategy document, which identifies four national interests, including protecting the homeland, peace through strength, American prosperity and advancing the country’s influence. The document stresses three types of challenges as well: revisionist powers, e.g., Russia and China; rogue regimes like North Korea; and transnational actors as the terrorist group Daesh (ISIS). The document puts a premium on Trump’s favorite “America First” motto, emphasizing that US economic prosperity is the key goal.

While Trump announced that his National Security Strategy’s concept is all new, Sputnik decided to take a look at the evolution of the US National Security Strategy over the past 15 years; or the lack thereof.
