MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) — Former Chilean President Sebastian Pinera has officially won the presidential election run-off with 54.57 percent of votes after 99.62 percent of the ballots counted.
According to the data of the country's election commission, Pinera's rival, center-left senator Alejandro Guillier, has received 45.43 percent. He has congratulated Pinera on the victory in the second round of the vote.
Incumbent leader Michelle Bachelet also congratulated Pinera on his success.
