MOSCOW (Sputnik) — At least 27 people were killed and 24 reported missing as a result of landslides and floods in the Philippine island province of Biliran caused by a tropical storm Urduja, local media reported on Monday.
According to the state-run Philippine News Agency (PNA), the storm wreaked severe damage on the infrastructure, as some towns of the province became isolated due to collapsed bridges.
Nearly 11,000 have been people stuck in ports across the country because of Urduja’s strong winds and rains, the news agency added.
Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte will reportedly visit the affected areas later in the day.
