While it is possible that some officials in Brussels may secretly think of Theresa May as "Madam Brexit", no one expected her to be called this during a press conference of both the Polish and British PM's during a bilateral summit in Warsaw. The "nickname" came as a result of Polish PM Mateusz Morawiecki's translator misspeaking, as she translated his speech into English.

"It's very important for us that this cooperation, even though it will be based soon on different rules and different regulations than it has been so far because of Brexit, because as Madam Brexit said, Brexit is Brexit," the translator said, amusing both the audience and May.
May, upon hearing the words smiled and looked over at her Polish counterpart, who did not interrupt his speaking, clearly oblivious to the moniker his translator had given the British PM.
Some users on Twitter clearly also appreciated May's new nickname.
#MadamBrexit says Brexit is Brexit. It's totally barmy.#ExitFromBrexit
