More than 5,000 civilians have left Syria’s Eastern Ghouta since Thursday morning, Maj. Gen. Vladimir Zolotukhin, spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Syrian reconciliation, said.
“With the assistance of the Russian Center for Syrian reconciliation, civilians continue to leave the areas of Eastern Ghouta through the humanitarian corridor checkpoints. Since the morning of March 22, 2018, over 5,000 civilians have left Eastern Ghouta through the checkpoints,” Zolotukhin told reporters.
Three convoys with the first group of militants left Harasta in Eastern Ghouta, Syria, a source familiar with the issue told Sputnik on Thursday.

Despite the adopted resolution, calling for an immediate halt to the fighting and the imposition of a long-term humanitarian ceasefire for 30 days across the entire Syrian territory in order to ensure the safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid supplies, clashes in the area continued.
Soon after the adoption of the UNSC resolution, Russia announced a daily five-hour humanitarian break in hostilities to stop casualties among the population and to let civilians leave Eastern Ghouta.
