The mother squirrel attacked a rat snake, protecting her offspring and scaring away the predator.

The animals' fight was captured on video in September, in Virginia, USA. The mother squirrel attacks the rat snake several times, while the snake is trying to defend itself. Such behavior can be explained by protection of the offspring. According to the author of the video, the 5-foot rat snake was pulled out of the squirrels' home by the big momma squirrel and slammed into the ground a good 15-20 feet below.
