The Saudi air defenses on Thursday intercepted the ballistic missile fired from rebel-held territory in neighboring Yemen, state media reported.
The Iran-backed militants said in a statement that the missile struck a Saudi airbase.
On June 10, Saudi air defenses intercepted a ballistic missile over the southern city of Jizan, however, no casualties were reported, state media informed.
The Saudi-led coalition, consisting principally of Persian Gulf countries, has been carrying out airstrikes against the Houthi movement since March 2015, after it launched a campaign to support President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, who fled the country when Houthi rebels conducted a coup in the country.
Saudi-Led Coalition Set to Work With Int'l Organizations to Help Yemeni People
The Saudi-led coalition is determined to continue its joint work with international humanitarian organizations to provide necessary assistance to people in Yemen, Saudi Arabia's Permanent Mission to the United Nations Office in Geneva said in a statement Thursday.
"Yesterday, The Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Geneva has communicated with relevant international organizations to convey the procedures under which the Coalition will be able to facilitate and expedite the entry of all humanitarian and commercial vessels into Hodeida [Al Hudaydah] port, following its liberation. The Coalition reaffirms its commitment to continue the joint work with all international humanitarian organizations in order to provide assistance to the Yemeni people," the statement read.

Yemen is in the grip of a violent conflict between the government forces of President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi and the Houthi movement. The Saudi-led coalition of mostly Persian Gulf nations has been carrying out airstrikes against the Houthis at Hadi's request since March 2015.
