The Italian PM Giuseppe Conte stated Tuesday that Rome will stick to the euro, adding that any other opinion regarding the European currency has nothing to do with his government’s policies. Conte stated that Italy was ready to start a dialogue with European institutions on budget issues.
"The euro is our currency and for us it is non-negotiable," Conte said on Facebook. Any declarations suggesting otherwise must be seen as "free and arbitrary opinions that have nothing to do with the policies of this government," he added.

Commenting on the Euro issues in October, the president of the Budget Committee in the lower house of parliament, Claudio Borghi, well-known for his euroskeptic stance, stated that the currency did not work properly, damaging the economy of the bloc. Borghi, however, denied claims of a possible Italian withdrawal from the Eurozone due to the upcoming adoption of a budget law, calling them "nonsense."
