WATCH Syrians Carry Assad on Their Shoulders, Thanking Him for Liberation
Residents of the Syrian province of Suwayda, grateful for their liberation from the captivity of Daesh* terrorists, lifted Syrian President Bashar Assad onto their shoulders during an official reception.
President Bashar Assad met with the liberated Syrians and their families on Tuesday.
In a video clip published by the media outlet Al-Watan, several men lift Assad into the air, with one of them putting the nation's president on his shoulders. Assad's head even grazes the chandelier hanging in the room.
Then they are seen chanting slogans in support of Assad and Syria.
Syria’s army recently freed a group of 19 women and children who were abducted by Daesh during a raid on the province in July, Syrian state television reported on Thursday. The abductees belonged to the Druze ethno-religious group, just one of several of the region's minority groups which have been targeted by the Islamist extremists.
*Daesh (also known as ISIS/ISIL/IS) is a terrorist group, banned in Russia
