Another Suspect in 2015 Paris Terror Attacks Arrested in Belgium

On November 13, 2015 a series of terrorist attacks across Paris left more than 150 people dead. The attacks constituted the worst terrorist incident in French history.

Another suspect in the 2015 Paris terror attacks has been arrested in Belgium and charged with supplying weapons, according to prosecutors, cited by AFP.

Mohamed E., was arrested prior to Christmas and was imprisoned in Saint-Gilles prison, according to the Belgium De Standaard newspaper. Mohamed E. is reportedly from the Belgium city of Verviers, which is located near Liege.

The suspect is believed to have supplied the automatic rifles used in the attacks, Eric Van Duyse, the Belgian federal prosecutors spokesman, said, AFP reports.

On 13 November 2015, three coordinated groups of terrorists staged a series of attacks in Paris and the city’s northern suburb, Saint-Denis, which left 130 dead and over 350 wounded.

One of the attacks occurred outside Stade de France, a stadium in Saint-Denis, during which there was a series of explosions.

Another place where the attacks happened was north-eastern Paris — three gunmen who were French nationals of Algerian descent took an audience of approximately 1,500 people hostage in the Bataclan concert hall and opened fire.

The third attack took place at the La Casa Nostra pizzeria, located near Le Carillon. Witnesses said a man attacked diners using a machine gun.

After the terrorist attacks, which were considered the worst in French history, a nationwide state of emergency was introduced; it lasted for almost two years and was lifted on 1 November 2017.
