Violence broke out after demonstrators hurled rocks and bottles at police near the Arc de Triomphe in central Paris during the ninth consecutive weekend of protests.
The protesters gathered at 11:00 a.m. local time (10:00 GMT) outside the French Economy and Finance Ministry located in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, marched through the city and reached the Arc de Triomphe by 2:00 p.m.

The crowd moved along loudly chanting calls for the resignation of President Emmanuel Macron. Protesters also demand imprisonment for Macron’s former security aide Alexandre Benalla.
French flags and flags of the French Brittany region were seen in the crowd, while some of the protesters brought yellow balloons with them.
Rallies took place in other French cities. An estimated 5,000 people demonstrated in Bourges in the country's center, according to local police, while between 800 and 1,000 took to the streets in the southern city of Nimes to protest high living costs.
