It comes hot on the heels of a press conference by William Barr, who commented on the findings of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's, a former FBI director who has been investigating alleged ties between the Trump campaign and Russia.
William Barr stressed that Mueller had not found any evidence that any US citizen (including members of the Trump campaign) was involved in any conspiration with the Russian authorities during the 2016 election.
He also said there was not enough evidence to establish that Donald Trump had obstructed justice by trying to frustrate the investigation. The report is set to be released later in the day.
Trump's supporters apparently viewed the comments as a big political victory for the US president and inundated social media with messages of support.

Others, however, were less receptive to the news and even called on the Game of Thrones creators — perhaps tongue-in-cheek — to sue Trump.

Barr issued a summary of Mueller's probe last month, which indicated that there was no evidence of collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign. Barr added, however, that the report did not exonerate Trump on the obstruction of justice issue, neither did it rule out that Russia tried to meddle in the election, though it provided no evidence to support the allegations of such interference.

The summary released by Barr was only four pages long, while the full report is about 400 pages long. It rubbished claims by the Clinton campaign, the Democratic Party and 'Never-Trump' Republicans who insisted that the US president colluded with Russia to win the 2016 presidential election. Trump's critics appeared to be dissatisfied with the summary and called on the attorney general to release the report in full.
Trump has denied all allegations and has on multiple occasions referred to the probe as a "hoax" and "witch-hunt". Moscow has repeatedly denied them as well, saying they were made up in a bid to deflect public attention from actual instances of election fraud and corruption.
