The gun, which uses magnetic force to propel projectiles, is thus expected to have greater range and power than those firing explosive charges.

Footage published this week shows the Haiyang Shan, a Chinese Navy Type 072 landing vessel, equipped with a railgun.  

News about Chinese railgun tests arose in 2017. According to the National Interest, the 120-metre-long ship (about 390 feet) was reportedly spotted in January 2018 at a facility in Wuhan on the Yangtze River. China has thus become the first country to mount such a weapon on board and test it.
