US President Donald Trump and North Korea's Chairman Kim Jong-un have met in the Demilitarized Zone and shook hands, reviving hopes for an improvement in ties between the two countries.
Trump's meeting with Kim in the Demilitarized Zone marks the first time a US president has ever visited the border between the two Koreas.
Kim and Trump originally engaged in negotiations during a summit in Singapore in June 2018, confirming their commitment to the denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula. However, the next round of talks about denuclearising the Korean Peninsula, which was held in Hanoi in February abruptly ended without any agreement.
