Former US Special Counsel Robert Mueller is publicly testifying this Wednesday before the US House of Representatives Judiciary and Intelligence Committees regarding the Russia probe, as lawmakers and the Justice Department grapple over what can be disclosed during the session.
On Monday, the Justice Department sent Mueller a letter saying it expects him to limit his testimony to what is already publicly available in the report on the investigation into alleged Russian meddling and collusion with President Donald Trump’s campaign.
The same day, US President Donald Trump slammed Mueller for agreeing to testify in Congress after concluding the investigation, saying his testimony will not yield any new information.
Mueller's final report, released in April, concluded that there was no collusion between the US president's campaign and Russia - allegations that have been consistently denied by Russia and Trump, who called the probe "a political witch hunt".
