A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck off the northwest coast of the island nation of Tonga in the Pacific Ocean, according to the United States Geological Survey. The agency reported that the tremor hit at a depth of 49 km, about 47 km northwest of the town of Neiafu.
There have been no immediate reports of any damage or casualties due to the quake.
