'Joker' directed by Todd Philips has won the Golden Lion award at the Venice Film Festival.
The film, which is going to hit the big screen in October, stars Joaquin Phoenix, along with Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz and Marc Maron.
Set in 1981, 'Joker' tells the story of failed stand-up comedian Arthur Fleck/Joker.
Cinema-goers took to Twitter to share their reactions to the news. Some are really happy for the film's success.
I'm so excited for the Joker movie. I've brought myself out of ironically liking it to sincerely liking it.

But others appeared to be quite puzzled by the news.
Who'd have thought Joker would win that? And portrayal of Joker's individualism would lose out to someone else's? Interesting. #VeniceFilmFestival
