Eel Offers Up Electrifying Christmas Decorations at US Aquarium
19:00 GMT 05.12.2019 (Updated: 21:15 GMT 19.10.2022) Miguel Wattson, an eel living it up at the Tennessee Aquarium, has given quite the shock to visitors discovering his ability to power the lights on a nearby Christmas tree at the site.
Joey Turnipseed, the aquarium’s audiovisual production specialist, explained in a December 3 release that Wattson is able to trigger a strobe-like tree lighting every time he’s eating or just whenever he gets excited.
“Whenever Miguel discharges electricity, sensors in the water deliver the charge to a set of speakers,” Turnipseed said. “The speakers convert the discharge into the sound you hear and the festively flashing lights.”
Forget Rudolf: it’s all about Miguel.
