US Army Contract Targets Software Development for Missile Defences - Northrop Grumman
15:36 GMT 08.01.2020 (Updated: 05:41 GMT 04.06.2023) WASHINGTON (Sputnik) - An Army contract worth $70 million over the next two years seeks to upgrade software controls for the US Integrated Air and Missile Defence Battle Command System (IBCS), Northrop Grumman announced in a press release on Wednesday.
"This contract brings IBCS into a new era of software development, enabling the rapid integration of new capabilities and improvements to further IBCS’s survivable battle management architecture using an agile software development process," Northrop Grumman Vice President Dan Verwiel said in the release.
22 December 2019, 16:42 GMT
Northrop Grumman explained that the IBCS is an internet-centred command and control system that provides an integrated picture of areas being defended.
IBCS features open architecture designed to incorporate sensors and missiles that are developed in the future, the release said.
The 28-month contract dates from the beginning of November 2019, the release added.
