The US Senate opened its session on Thursday for the second day of opening arguments in the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump in Washington DC.
During the Wednesday hearing, the team of House Intelligence Committee chairman Rep. Adam Schiff accused the US president of pursuing a “corrupt scheme” to abuse his presidential power and then obstruct a congressional investigation.
With the Democrats presenting their arguments, Trump, who was at the 2020 Davos World Economic Forum at the time, joked that he would face off with them by coming to “sit right in the front row and stare at their corrupt faces.”
Posting 142 tweets and 124 retweets by 6:35 p.m., he set a presidential record for the most tweets in a day, according to the website Factba.se, which tracks his activity on Twitter.
