"The TGV locomotive went off the tracks near Ingenheim," around 30 kilometres (20 miles) northwest of Strasbourg, an SNCF spokeswoman said.
According to the French outlet DNA, several people have been injured as a result of the incident, including the driver, who sustained serious injuries.

The train was reportedly carrying around 300 passengers, who are waiting outside for the evacuation. Traffic along the route, where the incident took place, has been disrupted.
The TGV is France's intercity high-speed rail service, operated by the SNCF.
