Good Parent: Arowana Fish With Baby
16:00 GMT 11.03.2020 (Updated: 19:39 GMT 19.10.2022) This unusual fish, widely known as Arowana, is one of the legendary fish of the Amazon basin. It is easy to recognize by its wide flat body, large shiny scales and impressively large mouth that opens wide to capture any prey that appears nearby.
The method of reproduction of this fish is very interesting. The female lays relatively large eggs (approximately Ø 15 mm), which the male then holds in his mouth for incubation. After about two months of gestation, the male releases the fish which are about 8 cm long.
