Moscow Streets Amid Citywide Quarantine - Video
Russian President Vladimir Putin previously ordered a paid week off from 28 March to 5 April and urged people to stay home amid the pandemic fears. At the moment, there are at least 1,500 confirmed cases in Russia, and the death toll from COVID-19 has reached 8.
Streets and squares of the Russian capital are deserted as the authorities announced a citywide quarantine to curb the coronavirus infection. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said residents will only be allowed to leave their homes for emergency medical care, going to work, to the nearest grocery store or to a pharmacy. They can also walk their pets within a 100-metre radius from their homes and take out the garbage.
