A dead body was taken out of the rubble after the partial collapse of a residential building in central Russia's Nizhny Novgorod region, following a gas cylinder explosion, the Emergencies Ministry regional department said in a statement.
“A few minutes ago, two people were removed from the rubble. One of them died. Details on who they are, guests or owners, are being clarified," the regional department said.
Earlier, the ministry said that two people were hospitalized after the explosion.
"Three people were allowed to go home after being examined by medics. Two people with injuries of varying severity were hospitalized to the Central District Hospital of the Vachsky District," the ministry said.
Earlier, the ministry said that a gas cylinder exploded in a residential building in the Filinskoye village in central Russia's Nizhny Novgorod region. The blast occurred on the first floor of a two-story building.
In an earlier statement, the ministry said that one person may remain under the rubble, noting that search and rescue operations were being carried out.
"The air-gas mixture exploded in a residential building, the building's structures collapsed in the village of Filinskoye in the Vachsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod Region," the ministry said.
On Saturday, there was a gas blast in a five-story residential house in the town of Orekhovo-Zuyevo, Moscow region, that resulted in three fatalities and six injured.
The blast occurred when a gas boiler exploded in one of the apartments on the third floor of the building, making a section of the apartments collapse between the third and fifth floors. The blast completely destroyed five apartments and partially damaged 10 others.
