Pope Francis is leading the Way of the Cross in front of Saint Peter's Basilica at the Vatican.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the ceremony is taking place without the presence of the public and is being live-streamed.
On Good Friday, this ceremony usually takes place at the Colosseum, in Rome. Going back to the 18th century, this tradition marks the Passion of the Lord, one of the Christian Easter celebrations during Holy Week.
For the first time since then, the Vatican has decided to keep the Holy Week events without the presence of the faithful in St.Peter’s Basilica.
