North Korea Launches Multiple Short-Range Cruise Missiles - Reports
05:03 GMT 14.04.2020 (Updated: 05:39 GMT 14.04.2020) The news comes just two weeks after Pyongyang tested a "super-large" multiple rocket launcher, firing two short-range projectiles from Wonsan, according to the Yonhap news agency.
North Korea launched multiple projectiles, believed to be short-range cruise missiles, Yonhap reported on Tuesday, citing South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff. The missiles were reportedly fired from Kangwon Province into the Sea of Japan, flying over 150 kilometres (93 miles).
"Our military is keeping watch and maintaining readiness in light of possible further military actions by North Korea. US and South Korean intelligence agencies are thoroughly investigating the available information", the JSC said in a statement.
At the moment, there has been no official comment on the launch from North Korean authorities.
The nation also allegedly conducted three other launches last month - on 2 March, 9 March, and 21 March.
In his New Year's Day statement North Korean leader Kim Jong-un announced that Pyongyang would demonstrate a "new strategic weapon" in the near future, but did not elaborate on what it would be.
