The coronavirus situation in Spain has noticeably improved in recent days as the country reported a decline in the number of new cases. Spain, however, remains the fifth most-affected nation globally counting some 235,290 cases, according to the WHO.

Tune in for Sputnik's livestreaming from Puerta de Alcala in Madrid where terraces are welcoming visitors after a month-and-a-half-long break as the capital moved to lift certain coronavirus restrictions amid improved COVID statistics.

However, as the pandemic is still ongoing, terraces will work only at half of their normal capacity.

Spain has registered 235,290 cases and 28,678 deaths, with 466 new cases registered over the past 24 hours, which constitutes a 1,321 daily drop, according to the latest WHO data posted at 8:30 a.m. CEST.
