The Washington Post has reported, citing sources, that the US Administration is discussing the possibility of the US conducting its first nuclear test since 1992.

Moscow is not ruling out that the United States is preparing the ground for withdrawing from the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday. Zakharova said that the US has a recognizable pattern of making accusations, including through bogus stories and leaks, and then paving the way for taking certain steps to pursue its goals.

She emphasized that the treaty is one of the most crucial documents related to nuclear non-proliferation.
