On Sunday, President Trump retweeted a video from a Florida rally where a man was heard chanting "White Power", a racist slogan of white supremacists. The president thanked "the great people" featured in the clip.

President Trump's Twitter post where a man was heard chanting "White Power" has been taken down from his account.

The White House spokesperson commented on the tweet's disappearance, saying that the president did not hear "the one statement" in the video.

The controversial footage was shared by a user nicknamed 'Fifty Shades of Whey' and follows a standoff between Trump supporters and anti-Trump protesters at The Villages community in Florida. At the beginning of the video, a man riding a cart is heard chanting the slogan as protesters insult him, calling him a Nazi and racist.

Trump's now-deleted retweet was captioned "Thank you to the great people of The Villages. The Radical Left Do Nothing Democrats will Fall in the Fall. Corrupt Joe is shot. See you soon!!!".

Earlier in the day, the only black Republican Senator Tim Scott said in an interview with CNN that Trump should take the tweet down.

Former National Security Advisor John Bolton, in turn, told CNN that Trump most likely did not hear the statement and only paid attention to the "Trump 2020" sign on the cart. According to Bolton, it is typical of the president to be inattentive to detail.
