Microsoft has officially halted production of its Xbox One X and Xbox One S All-Digital Edition consoles ahead of the launch of its Series X that is scheduled to hit the shelves at the end of the year, The Verge outlet has reported.
“As we ramp into the future with Xbox Series X, we’re taking the natural step of stopping production on Xbox One X and Xbox One S All-Digital Edition Xbox One S will continue to be manufactured and sold globally,” a Microsoft spokesperson said in a statement.
Reports of Xbox One X and Xbox One S shortages have surfaced in recent weeks, as demand for Microsoft's and Sony's current-gen console has increased amid the coronavirus pandemic.
As the production of the two consoles is being halted, people can still find and purchase them from stocks available at retailers.
Microsoft introduced the Xbox One X back in November 2017, while the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition, which doesn't have a hard disk, was launched in April 2019.
