Three Terrorists Killed, Three Indian Army Personnel Injured in Gunfight in Jammu and Kashmir
03:41 GMT 17.07.2020 (Updated: 14:39 GMT 06.08.2022) New Delhi (Sputnik): Over 100 terrorists have been gunned down and some 27 Indian security personnel killed in Kashmir during encounters since April. The Indian government on Thursday admitted that terrorism is on the rise in Jammu and Kashmir.
Three terrorists were killed and three Indian army personnel sustained injuries in an early morning encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam on Friday. Police have began a search at the encounter site and recovered arms and ammunition.
More than 100 terrorists have been killed in the valley since April. The Indian government earlier claimed that terror activities were reduced in the valley after the revocation of the temporary special status under Article 370. However, on Thursday, during a hearing of plea on the restoration of 4G internet networks in the valley, government officials acknowledged that terrorism has increased in
Jammu and Kashmir.
Last week, the Indian Army gunned down terrorists who had allegedly infiltrated from the Pakistan side along the Line of Control (LoC). The army claimed that about 300 terrorists are at launchpads to cross the LoC to enter the Indian side of Kashmir.
India accused Pakistan of harbouring terrorists and for its role in the unrest in Kashmir, while Islamabad has refuted the allegations by accusing New Delhi of committing atrocities against Kashmiris.
